Teuravuoma-Kivijärvenvuoma Directions and Maps
Teuravuoma - Kivijärvenvuoma is located on the south side of road 80 (Kolari - Kittilä).
Directions
By Car
There are three starting points for the Teuravuoma - Kivijärvenvuoma area: from the villages of Teurajärvi, Kurtakko and Venejärvi. The starting points in Teurajärvi and Kurtakko are located on Kurtakontie road (municipal road 939) and provide the most direct route to Telatie trail.
From Kolari
- To get to the Teurajärvi starting point, drive approximately 8 km along Kurtakontie road (municipal road 939) in the direction of Ylläsjärvi and turn right onto Teurajärventie road, following the signs for "Teuravuoman Telatie". Drive for 3,7 km. There is a sign indicating a parking area on the right side of the road. The trip from Kolari is approximately 12 km.
- To get to the Kurtakko starting point, drive along Kurtakontie, past the Ylläsjärvi intersection, and continue in the direction of Kaukonen. Turn right onto Kauppilantie, and follow the signs for "Teuravuoman Telatie". There is a parking area by the road. The trip from Kolari is approximately 20 km.
- To get to the Venejärvi starting point, drive 16 km along Pellontie road (highway 21) towards Pello. Turn left onto Venejärventie and follow the signs for "Teuravuoman Telatie" to the Venejärvi parking area. The trip from Kolari is approximately 40 km.
- Driving directions to Yllästunturi Visitor Centre Kellokas.
From Äkäslompolo
- To reach the Teurajärvi starting point from Äkäslompolo, drive along Maisematie (Scenery Road) to Ylläsjärvi and turn right in the direction of Kolari (municipal road 939). Drive approximately 17 km until you reach the Kurtakko intersection. Turn right in the direction of Kolari. Continue for about 10 km and turn left onto Teurajärventie road, following the signs for "Teurajärven Telatie". Drive for 3,7 km on Teurajärventie road. There is a sign indicating a parking area on the right side of the road.
- To get to the Kurtakko starting point, turn left at the Kurtakko intersection and drive in the direction of Kaukonen for approximately 2 km. Turn right onto Kauppilantie, following the "Teuravuoman Telatie" signs. There is a parking area by the road.
By Public Transportation
- There is limited bus service (matkahuolto.fi) to Teuravuoma - Kivijärvenvuoma from Kolari to Kurtakko, along road 80. The Kurtakko starting point is closest to the bus route.
- The nearest train station (vr.fi) is about 20 km away, in Kolari.
- The nearest airports are some 55 km away in Kittilä (finavia.fi) and 50 km away in Pajala, Sweden (pajala.se, in Swedish).
