Walk on Marked Trails
You can reach the area by the historical Telatie trail, consisting mainly of duckboards, which runs between the villages of Kurtakko, Teurajärvi and Venejärvi. The trail covers a distance of slightly more than 17 km and it is possible to hike shorter sections of the route. The trails are easy to hike and don't demand a high level of physical fitness.
Go Bird Watching
Teuravuoma - Kivijärvenvuoma is a birdwatcher's paradise. There are two bird-watching towers along the Telatie trail that open up onto expansive views of one of Central Lapland's best bird areas. The best times for birdwatching are in the spring and early summer, when bird populations are the most abundant and visible.
See the Sights and Scenery
Along the Telatie trail, you'll find observation towers where you can admire the mire landscape, as well as historical points of interest, such as the Kurtakko summer cowshed.
Ski Cross-country off Trails
There are no maintained ski trails in Teuravuoma - Kivijärvenvuoma, but the huge expanses of mires, with their breathtaking scenery, offer wonderful opportunities in favourable conditions for skiers with proper off-track equipment.
Go Berry and Mushroom Picking
Arctic cloudberry (Rubus chamaemorus) is abundant in the area's mires, and later, in the fall, cranberries (Vaccinium oxycoccos) are ripe for the picking.
Go Snowshoe Walking
Teuravuoma - Kivijärvenvuoma offers good conditions for snowshoeing. Wide-open mires are easy to walk, and it's nice to take an occasional break in one of the lean-tos and enjoy the unbroken peace of the winter mire landscape.
