Visit: Kappelniitty's ancient site is open to visitors free of charge all year round. The site is not staffed and there is no winter maintenance.
Instructions and rules: The Kappelniitty Ancient Site is a fixed relic site, which may not be excavated, covered or damage in any way under the Antiquities Act (www.nba.fi). Campfires are also prohibited.
Sights and Activities: Kappelniitty is situated by a wide expanse of fields in the Yläne church village to the east of the River Yläneenjoki. In 1995, an iron cross was erected in the meadow to commemorate the medieval chapel of Yläne. A medieval pilgrim path, Saint Henry's Way (www.wikipedia.fi), passes through Kappelniitty.
