- All-terrain runners, walking shoes or boots suited to terrain and weather
- Weather-appropriate clothing, multiple layers
- Underwear

- Day pack (20-30 liters) and rain cover
- Navigation: Map and compass or Trail description
- Seat pad
- Nutrition: Lunch and trail snacks
- Fire: Matches or lighter in a waterproof bag
- Hydration: Water bottle or bladder, plenty of water
- Cellphone with fully charged battery
- Toilet paper
- Small bag for rubbish
- First Aid Kit: assorted plasters, blister plasters, hygienic cleansing wipes, wound care dressing, elastic bandage
