Reservations for the end of the year 2024 for the reservation and rental huts maintained by Metsähallitus' Parks & Wildlife Finland must be made and paid for by Friday 18. November. Exceptionally, bookings for the reservation and rental huts for the year 2025 can only be made starting from 26. November. More information

A small building with a sod roof, with a small shelter above the door. There is a juniper tree in front and a stream flows behind the cabin.

Inside the hut there is a table with a small gas stove and a candlestick on it. There are buckets on the bench. A small window with two willow grouse figures brings light into the room.

Suitable for overnight stays for hikers with good navigation skills. The hut is located in the Urho Kekkonen National Park's wilderness zone, which has no marked trails. The nearest shops and restaurants are located in Saariselkä and in Ivalo. Built in 2015–2016, the hut is located at the spot where the two last branches of the River Vongoivajoki meet.

The turf hut is situated where the River Voingoivajoki seperates into two tributaries.
Suitable for overnight stays for hikers with good navigation skills. The hut is located in the Urho Kekkonen National Park's wilderness zone, which has no marked trails. The nearest shops and restaurants are located in Saariselkä and in Ivalo.
The closest huts are the Anterinmukka open wilderness hut and the Hammaskuru open and reservable wilderness hut.
You can get to the hut on foot or by skis from several starting points (pdf 659kt). The distance from Raja-Jooseppi is ca. 41 km and from Kemihaara ca. 41 km.

Price

45 €/night (incl. VAT 10%).

From the March to September is possible to stay in the hut maximum two nights in a row and from October to February maximum 7 nights in a row.
The hut cannot be booked 11.-31.5. and 16.10.-30.11.

Keys

Key for the hut is in a coded key box located outside at the hut door. You will receive further instructions and the code when booking.

Facilities

A sleeping platform, mattresses, pillows, a table, and benche.
A wood-burning stove, a gas cooker, a saucepan, and a frying pan.
There is a smoke alarm in the hut, but we recommend bringing your own device with you.
A campfire site, a dry toilet and a woodshed.
Take own candles, toilet paper and headlamp with you.
Household water is taken from the river Vongoivajoki.

Notices

It is allowed to bring pets in the hut.
There are no accessible services in the hut.
Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm.
You can camp by the campfire sites.
When leaving the hut, remember that it has to be clean and ready for the next customers.
The route includes some river crossings. There are bridges by the River Suomujoki at Aitaoja, Kotaköngäs, and Porttikoski and by the River Luttojoki at Raja-Jooseppi.
Make sure you pack a first-aid kit.
There is a recycling point at the hut. Hikers are however adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Read more about Hiking Without Littering.
