Porojärvi Rental Hut
Two small cabins situated in the Käsivarsi Wilderness Area, in the southeastern shore of Lake Porojärvi. Porojärvi Rental Hut is known as a holiday destination for the ex-president of Finland, Urho Kekkonen. It is possible to go from Kilpisjärvi to Porojärvi by foot, skiing or by snowmobile transport (45 km).

Along the main road E8 to Kilpisjärvi, from where 45 km on the terrain by hiking or skiing. The cabin is located on the southeastern shore of Lake Porojärvi, in the place, where begins the River Poroeno.

Keys
Key for the hut is in a coded key box located outside at the hut door. You will receive further instructions and the code when booking.
Facilities
The old UKK hut has two bunk beds, candle light, gas stove and wood heated iron heater. The new hut was build in 1998, and it has a wood burning iron heater, living room with a bunk bed, kitchenette with bunk bed and bedroom with bunk bed. No electricity. Please note that it takes some time before the huts are properly warm.
Bring your own bed linen, sleeping bag, candles, toilet paper and headlamp.
There is separate wood heated sauna by shore, and boat. A dry toilet and a woodshed are located near the huts. Firewood can be used only in the huts and sauna, but not outside in campfires. There is no official campfire site.
The water in the area is usually safe to drink, but we recommended to boil it before use.
Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Recycling point can be found at Kilpisjärvi Visitor Centre. Read more about Hiking without Littering.
Notices
It is 45 km from Porojärvi to Kilpisjärvi village on a roadless and partly non-marked terrain by walking or skiing. In Kilpisjärvi village there is Kilpisjärvi Visitor Centre, a shop, a fuel distribution point and restaurants. It is 120 km to Hetta village, the centre of the municipality of Enontekiö. In Hetta there is the Fell Lapland Visitor Centre.
The Boazojávri rental hut is located about 11 km to the west from the Nordkalott trail. There is no marked trail all the way and it is challenging terrain to navigate all the way to the Boazojávri rental hut.
In winter it is possible to have snowmobile transportation to the hut.
Remember to clean the hut properly before leaving. The hut can´t be checked after each customer. If the previous customer has not cleaned the hut, please contact immediately to the maintenance of the hut. If the hut is not cleaned after the rent, Metsähallitus will charge for the cleaning.
Visitors must come prepared with warm clothing, food, drink, maps, compass, orienteering skills and matches. Fog or storms can form in just a few hours. Take also your own toilet paper.
Fishing area
When fishing in the rivers, you have to pay the fisheries management fee (eraluvat.fi) as well as a Käsivarsi-Tarvanto 1401 (eraluvat.fi). When fishing at Poroeno you must have a Poroeno 1432 (eraluvat.fi) permit. Fishing permits are sold by the customer service points of Metsähallitus as well as local tourist enterprisers.
