There are many islands in the Bothnian Sea that are well-suited for excursions. Many of these islands housed wartime fortresses. Visitors can now also explore many lighthouse islands. You can visit some of the lighthouses on a guided excursion.
Organised boat tours take visitors to many of the destinations and partner companies of Metsähallitus also offer boat trips to the islands on request. All islands are accessible by boat or canoe and you can also stay overnight on some of them.
